STEAM TOYS
This website is a showcase of the various manufacturers of
Steam Powered Toys
that have existed in Australia and New Zealand over the years.
This idea behind this website came about one day in January of 2024 when several members of the Model and Toy Steam Engine Forum were discussing the lack of a reference source documenting the various Australian and New Zealand model and toy steam manufacturers that have existed over the years. While there had previously been an older website called OZsteam, this had gone offline some time ago and seemed unlikely to return.
The information on this site has been compiled from the combined knowledge of several Australian and New Zealand model steam enthusiasts, and some details found searching the internet. Many of the photos used on this website have come from the forum members or discussions that have taken place on the forum.
There's no guarantee that all the information presented here is 100% correct, we're just trying to do our best to catalogue what we know. If you're able to add some new information or photos to this site we'd certainly love to hear from you so please don't hesitate to get in touch. Of course should any new brands ever start up business in the future we'll be happy to add them to this site as well.
This is not a commercial website and it does not make any profit. All the work has been done by volunteers in their spare time. There are hosting costs associated with keeping this website running and these costs are very generously covered by Benchmark Engraving & Awards.
It's hoped that this website will be a useful reference for both new and seasoned toy steam enthusiasts not only in Australia and New Zealand, but the rest of the world as many of these engines are known to have made their way to new homes in other countries.
Some of these engines are now getting quite old, so if this site also helps to keep them steaming for a bit longer then the effort to build this site will have been worth while.
